| Opmerkingen |
The Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency was established in 1952, and its first banknote series — the Haj pilgrim receipts — predated full public currency issuance by several years. P#9 belongs to the second circulating series, the first to be issued in denominations of genuine monetary weight rather than religious travel scrip. De La Rue produced the series under tight technical constraints: the Saudi government required designs that avoided figurative imagery, which pushed the printer toward geometric and calligraphic solutions uncommon in its concurrent work for other central banks.
The watermark is the sole security feature — modest even by 1960 standards.
