备注

The Brunei Currency and Monetary Board was established in 1967 following the decision not to join the newly formed Malaysian ringgit system — Brunei retained its own currency but maintained a currency interchangeability agreement with Singapore that remains in force to this day. The 1989 series continued that arrangement, meaning this note circulated at par with the Singapore dollar by treaty, not by accident.

Thomas De La Rue printed the full run of this series, as they had for earlier Brunei issues. The relatively sparse security specification — watermark only, no security thread recorded for this pick — reflects printing norms of the late 1980s rather than any unusual economy on the issuer's part.
