Pick 97 carries two distinct signature combinations, both pairing Dr. Jamshid Amouzegar — who served as Finance Minister under the Shah through much of the 1970s — with different Bank Markazi governors. Amouzegar would later become Prime Minister in 1977, making his appearance on Iranian currency a small marker of the political ascent that preceded the Revolution.

De La Rue had printed Iranian notes continuously since the Melli Bank era, and by 1971 the relationship was well established enough that security specification decisions were largely handled in London.
