Metallwerke Holleischen GmbH was a forced-labor armaments facility operating within the Holýšov concentration camp complex in occupied Bohemia, a subcamp of Flossenbürg. This note was camp scrip — issued not for any commercial economy but to create a controlled internal exchange system for prisoner laborers, a fiction of wages that the SS used partly to satisfy International Red Cross scrutiny of camp conditions.
The scrip had no value outside the camp and could only be spent at a canteen stocked at the discretion of the administration. Survival of any Holleischen scrip is rare; most was destroyed or confiscated at liberation in May 1945.
