Wehrmacht Reichskreditkassen notes were replaced by a dedicated military series in 1942 as Germany's occupation zones expanded and the earlier Reichskreditkassen issues proved administratively unwieldy. This 50 Reichspfennig belongs to that auxiliary series — denominations designed explicitly for troop pay and field canteen use rather than for circulation among occupied civilian populations.
The low face value meant these were genuinely handled and spent. Surviving examples in any decent state are harder to locate than the higher denominations from the same issue.
