| Obverse description | Printed in red and multicolour on a light ground, the obverse bears a large intaglio portrait of Carlos O. Zachrisson at right, set against a stepped Mayan pyramid vignette, with a quetzal bird in flight and a Mayan codex illustration to the left flanking a central guilloche rosette carrying the denomination numeral '50'. The bank title 'BANCO DE GUATEMALA' and sub-legend 'GUATEMALA, CENTRO AMERICA' occupy the upper register, while three facsimile signature lines with corresponding role titles appear below the central vignette. The lower margin carries the commemorative inscription 'LICENCIADO CARLOS O. ZACHRISSON MINISTRO DE HACIENDA Y GESTOR DE LA REFORMA MONETARIA Y BANCARIA 1923-1926'. |
