| 表面の説明 | Central device depicts a Cedar of Lebanon (Cedrus libani), the national symbol, rendered in fine relief with a broad spreading canopy and gnarled trunk rising from the field. The Arabic legend الجمهورية اللبنانية (Al-Jumhuriyya al-Lubnaniyya, 'The Lebanese Republic') arches above the tree in the upper field. Below the tree, the date appears in both Western Arabic numerals (1952) and Eastern Arabic-Indic numerals (١٩٥٢), separated by a central dot. The French inscription REPUBLIQUE LIBANAISE curves along the lower periphery, flanked on each side by a small five-pointed star. The entire design is enclosed within a continuous beaded border. |

The Banque de Syrie et du Liban lost its currency-issuing authority over Syria in 1950, when Damascus established the Syrian Central Bank and severed the monetary union that had linked the two countries since the French Mandate. This 1952 issue therefore circulated exclusively in Lebanon — the bank's name now a relic of a political arrangement that no longer existed.
Lebanon would replace the BSL entirely in 1964 with the Banque du Liban. Pieces from the final years of BSL coinage, including this type, saw genuine circulation and are correspondingly harder to find without wear.
