Egypt's post-2016 IMF austerity program forced a sharp devaluation of the pound and triggered a sweeping recoinage, with the Central Bank introducing brass clad steel across multiple denominations to cut production costs. This issue belongs to that wave. Brass clad steel had largely fallen out of Egyptian minting practice for some years before returning under fiscal pressure.
KM#1034 is part of the broader "New Egyptian Countryside" series launched to celebrate rural development initiatives under the state's 2030 Vision program.
