正面描述 Bare-headed effigy of King Fuad I in civilian dress, facing right, wearing a fez (tarboosh) and suit with necktie, rendered in high relief. The portrait occupies the majority of the field, with fine modelling of facial features. An Arabic legend in naskh script curves along the right periphery, reading 'Fuad the First, King of Egypt.' The coin is bordered by a dentilated rim.

附加信息

Fuad I had been Sultan of Egypt since 1917, but the 1923 coinage reflects a political inflection point: the declaration of the Kingdom of Egypt in March 1922 under British pressure following decades of occupation, with Fuad elevated to King. This issue belongs to the first royal coinage series and was struck at the British Royal Mint on contract, as Egypt lacked domestic minting capacity.

The "right" designation distinguishes the portrait orientation from a companion issue with the head facing left — both types were struck in the same year, an unusual duplication that likely reflects transitional die work during the establishment of the new royal coinage standard.
