Additional information

Syria's 1976 FAO coinage was part of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization's global program that encouraged member states to mint coins carrying agricultural themes as a form of public awareness — effectively using circulating currency as propaganda for food security initiatives. Dozens of countries participated through the 1970s, and Syria issued this piece during a period of Ba'athist economic policy heavily oriented toward agrarian self-sufficiency under Hafez al-Assad's government.

KM#113 is frequently encountered in uncirculated condition, suggesting either limited actual circulation or careful hoarding at issue.
