| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central device depicting a detailed sheaf of rice plants with full ears of grain, rendered in high relief against a plain field. The legend in Burmese script arcs along the upper periphery, reading 'Myanmar State Central Bank', while the date in Burmese numerals appears to the right in the field. The composition reflects the FAO theme of agricultural self-sufficiency, with the rice motif dominating the design. |

Issued under the FAO coinage program, which recruited central banks worldwide to mint coins carrying agricultural themes as a low-cost vehicle for rural development messaging. Myanmar's participation came while the country was under SLORC military rule, following the brutal suppression of the 1988 pro-democracy uprising — the junta's decision to engage with a UN-affiliated program was largely cosmetic, as domestic food distribution remained severely disrupted.
