| 裏面の説明 | The bank's heraldic coat of arms, supported by two lions rampant and bearing the motto 'NIHIL IMPOSSIBILE ERIT VOBIS' on a scroll beneath, is centrally positioned within an elaborate guilloche vignette. Four provincial arms appear in the corners, each framed by laurel sprigs, with '£50' denominations in intaglio to the left and right of the central arms. The issuer's name 'ULSTER BANK LIMITED' is inscribed at the top, and the printer's imprint appears at the foot. |

Ulster Bank's 1997 £50 is one of the higher denominations in the pre-polymer series issued before the bank's gradual design consolidation in the 2000s. De La Rue's London production for Ulster Bank was longstanding — the relationship predates this issue considerably, and the security specification here is relatively modest for a £50 note of that period, relying on a basic watermark and thread rather than the more sophisticated features De La Rue was simultaneously producing for other clients.
Ulster Bank notes, though legal currency in Northern Ireland, are not legal tender anywhere — including Northern Ireland itself — a distinction that continues to cause friction at points of exchange outside the province.
