A ribbon above the shield bears Arabic inscription. To the left of the eagle, the denomination is expressed in Arabic numerals and Arabic script (جنيها), and to the right in Western numerals (50) with the abbreviation Ls. | Additional information |
Struck as a pattern essai for the Organisation of African Unity commemorative series, this copper piece was never intended for circulation — essais of this type were produced in small quantities for archival and approval purposes, submitted to issuing authorities before a final metallic composition was confirmed. The approved circulation strikes for this series were issued in silver and gold. The copper essai exists as a production-stage artifact, not a rejected design.
