| Obverse description | Central device depicting the Sudanese state emblem: a secretary bird with wings displayed, facing right, superimposed upon a shield and flanked by two flowering plants; a scroll above the bird's head bears an Arabic inscription. The denomination appears in the left field in Arabic numerals (٥٠ جنيهاً) and in the right field in Latin numerals (LS. 50). At the base of the coin, the dual dates 1398 (Hijri) and 1978 (Gregorian) are inscribed in Arabic numerals, separated by small countermarks. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border. |
