Obverse description Central device depicts a spread-winged vulture facing, with wings outstretched horizontally and talons clutching shen rings, rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field. Above the vulture, a stylized lotus flower is shown in the upper field. The Arabic legend 'جمهورية مصر العربية' (Arab Republic of Egypt) arcs across the upper central field, flanked on the left by the denomination '50 LE' in Latin numerals and on the right by its Arabic equivalent '٥٠ جـ'. The Latin acronym 'A·R·E' appears within the spread wings of the vulture. Dual dates in both Western (1994) and Arabic-Indic (١٩٩٤) numerals appear at lower left and lower right respectively, with the Hijri year 1415 / ١٤١٥ alongside, and the mint mark 'ECC' inscribed at the bottom of the field.
