| 备注 |
Sir John Houblon was the Bank of England's first Governor, appointed in 1694 when the Bank was founded by royal charter to fund William III's war against France. His appearance on this note marked the tercentenary of that founding — the series ran from 1994 specifically to coincide with the 300th anniversary, making it the first Bank of England £50 note to feature a historical figure other than a reigning monarch on the reverse.
Three different Chief Cashiers signed across the series run: Kentfield, then Lowther, then Bailey. Kentfield signatures are the earliest and shortest-lived of the three.
