| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central depiction of Buckingham Palace rendered in fine detail in high relief against a dark mirrored field, occupying the silver centre of the bimetallic composition. Surrounding the palace, within the gold-plated outer ring, is an elaborate decorative border featuring a procession of equestrian and ceremonial figures commemorating the Golden Jubilee, connected by a starburst or constellation-like geometric pattern of lines and points. The denomination FIFTY POUNDS appears in a horizontal legend directly below the palace facade. The overall design evokes the pageantry and grandeur of the 2002 Golden Jubilee celebrations. |

Guernsey's outsized commemorative program in the early 2000s leaned heavily on royal milestones as licensing opportunities, and this kilogram piece is among the more extravagant products of that tendency. The Golden Jubilee itself — marking fifty years from Elizabeth II's accession in February 1952 — was commemorated across virtually every British Crown Dependency and Overseas Territory, generating an unusually crowded field of issues from Gibraltar, Jersey, and Alderney alongside this one.
The bimetallic construction, with a fine silver centre set into a gold-plated silver ring, is a production technique associated with Swiss and German specialty minting houses contracted for prestige collector pieces rather than anything produced in-house on Guernsey.
