Behind him, the Normandy beach assault scene unfolds: landing craft, beach obstacles, and additional soldiers wading ashore are rendered in lower relief. The large inscription 'D·DAY' arcs prominently across the upper field, flanked by the dates '1944' and '2014', with the denomination '£50' inscribed to the right.
