| 背面描述 | A boldly rendered silhouette of a helmeted Allied soldier in the foreground, crouching and aiming a rifle, dominates the lower centre of the field. Behind him, a detailed composite scene depicts troops advancing through beach obstacles and surf during the Normandy landings of 6 June 1944, with landing craft and anti-tank stakes visible in the middle ground. A diagonal banner across the left field bears the inscription 60TH ANNIVERSARY OF D-DAY, while the denomination 50 POUNDS appears vertically along the right portion of the field. |

Alderney holds a particular claim on D-Day commemoration that the larger Channel Islands do not: it was the only British territory from which the entire civilian population was evacuated before German occupation in 1940, leaving the island essentially uninhabited for five years. The 60th anniversary issue in 2004 marked that specific history as much as the Normandy landings themselves.
The 1000g, 100mm format places this squarely in the trophy bullion category produced by the Pobjoy Mint for collector markets rather than anything approaching circulation.
