Issued to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the Battle of Britain, this coin appeared in 1990 as part of a broader wave of commemorative gold struck across British Crown Dependencies for the occasion. Jersey had no direct military role in the battle itself — the island had fallen under German occupation in June 1940, weeks before the aerial campaign began, and would remain occupied until May 1945.
KM#81 was produced in limited numbers for the collector market and saw no circulation.
