The Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace has housed the working horses and vehicles of the British royal household since George III converted the site in the 1760s — previously it had been a royal falconry. The Mews gained renewed public attention following Elizabeth II's death in September 2022, when the Irish State Coach and the Royal Hearse were prepared there for the funeral procession.
Guernsey has issued commemorative gold under its own authority since the Channel Islands gained independent coinage rights in 1921, though these modern proof issues are struck under contract rather than at a Guernsey facility.
