Opmerkingen

Bank of Scotland's 50 Pound notes occupy an odd position in Scottish currency: technically legal currency in Scotland under the terms of the bank's long-standing note-issuing authority, but routinely refused in England despite no legal prohibition on acceptance south of the border. The resulting friction has been a live political irritant for decades, periodically reigniting arguments about whether Scottish commercial bank notes deserve statutory protection in the rest of the UK.

The series ran nearly a decade before the polymer transition ended cotton-paper production for higher denominations across most British issuers.
