| 裏面の説明 | The reverse carries a vignette of the Old Bushmills Distillery, one of Ireland's most historic landmarks, rendered in detailed intaglio engraving. The architectural composition is set against a background of fine guilloche patterns. The denomination and issuer name are inscribed in clear letterpress. |

Bank of Ireland's £50 note circulates in Northern Ireland, where three commercial banks retain the right to issue sterling — a legacy of arrangements predating the Troubles and left largely intact by successive Bank of England reviews. De La Rue's Gateshead facility, which took over production from the old Overton mill operation, printed this series. The notes are legal currency but not legal tender in the strict statutory sense, a distinction that occasionally causes refusal at English retailers unfamiliar with the parallel issuing system.
For a high-denomination note issued in 2013, the security specification is notably lean — watermark only at Pick #89 level, without the polymer substrate or foil elements De La Rue was already applying to comparable issues elsewhere.
