Opmerkingen

The Philippine Deposit Insurance Corporation celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013, and this commemorative issue marks that occasion rather than any monetary policy event. The PDIC was established in 1963 under Republic Act 3591 to protect depositors against bank failures — a function that became painfully relevant during the financial turbulence of the Marcos years and again during the Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s.

Printed entirely in-house at the BSP's own Security Plant Complex, the note reflects the Philippines' long-standing policy of domestic banknote production, a capability the country has maintained since 1978.
