Obverse description The arms of the Republic of the Philippines occupy the central field, featuring a quartered shield with a sun and stars above, an American eagle at lower left, and a lion at lower right, all rendered in fine relief. A scroll beneath the shield bears the motto ISANG BANSA ISANG DIWA (One Nation, One Spirit). The circumferential legend REPUBLIKA NG PILIPINAS arcs along the upper rim, while the denomination 50 PISO appears in large characters along the lower rim. Two five-pointed stars flank the denomination at the base, and a beaded border frames the entire design.

Reverse description Conjoined busts of an American soldier and a Filipino soldier are depicted in left-facing profile at the center of the field, the American soldier wearing a steel helmet positioned behind, and the Filipino soldier wearing a campaign hat in the foreground, both in military uniform rendered with fine engraved detail. The dates 1942 and 1982, stacked vertically, appear to the left of the busts, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the Battles of Bataan and Corregidor. The legend BATAAN - CORREGIDOR curves along the lower rim, with no additional border ornamentation.
