Additional information

Bir Tawil is one of the last unclaimed land territories on Earth — a 2,060 square kilometer tract between Egypt and Sudan that neither country wants, owing to a boundary dispute that makes claiming it disadvantageous to both. It has no permanent population, no government, and no monetary system. This coin has no issuing authority in any recognized legal sense.

These pieces were privately produced, almost certainly as novelty items capitalizing on internet fascination with Bir Tawil after Jeremiah Heaton's 2014 flag-planting drew international press coverage.
