Obverse description Green intaglio vignette of three African elephants at left centre, set against a savanna landscape with trees in the background. Arabic inscriptions occupy the upper portion, with the denomination numeral in a scalloped cartouche at right; the third line of Arabic text measures 31mm in length. Serial number and signatures of the Chairman and Member of the Board appear at lower centre, with corner numerals reading '50' and 'PT'.

Reverse description Central intaglio vignette of a camel rider in traditional dress, bearing a flag and travelling through a desert landscape, framed by ornate guilloche rosettes at either side. The issuer name 'SUDAN CURRENCY BOARD' is lettered in a arched banner at the top, with 'FIFTY PIASTRES' in a straight panel at the bottom. Corner roundels carry the denomination numeral '50' in green against a fine lathe-work underprint covering the entire field.
