Verein Keglerheim was a bowling club in Lübeck, and like hundreds of German sports and social clubs in 1921, it found itself unable to conduct basic transactions as municipal and commercial small-change supplies collapsed under postwar inflation. The solution — printing your own Notgeld — was legally tolerated and practically widespread. Gebrüder Hohenschild, a local Lübeck printer, handled a number of such issues for the city's clubs and associations during this period, which accounts for the consistent production quality across otherwise obscure issuers.
