Ueckermünde is a small Pomeranian fishing and market town on the Stettiner Haff, and like hundreds of similar municipalities it began issuing Notgeld in 1920 as the Reichsbank's coin shortage ground on past all reasonable expectation. J. P. Himmer of Augsburg supplied notes to dozens of these smaller issuers — a commercial printer filling a civic vacuum, not a security house. The official stamp was the magistrate's attempt to tie a mass-produced piece of paper to local authority.

Ueckermünde's issues are not among the more sought-after Pomeranian Notgeld, which kept circulation volumes modest and survival rates unremarkable in either direction.
