Issued by the Offenbacher Schrauben Industrie — a screw and fastener manufacturer in Mühlheim am Main — this is a works token (*Werksgeld* or *Lagergeld*) from the World War II forced labor system. German industrial firms were allocated foreign and forced laborers whose wages were paid not in Reichsmarks but in camp or factory scrip, redeemable only within controlled canteen and welfare systems. Zinc was the mandated material by this period, copper and nickel having been redirected to the war effort entirely.
