| 备注 |
Ettal Abbey, a Benedictine monastery in the Bavarian Alps, operated its own estate administration — the Klostergutsverwaltung — which issued this note during the acute small-change shortage that gripped wartime Germany from 1916 onward. Municipal, institutional, and even private issuers flooded the country with Kleingeldersatz, as the Reichsbank struggled to keep fractional coinage in circulation with metal diverted to munitions production.
J. P. Himmer of Augsburg, a long-established regional printer, handled a significant volume of Bavarian Notgeld commissions during this period. The monastery's note would have served workers and tenants on abbey lands — a genuinely local instrument with a circulation probably measured in dozens of hands.
