Additional information

Westfälisch-Anhaltische Sprengstoff AG — known as WASAG — was one of Imperial and Weimar Germany's principal explosives manufacturers, with roots in the Nobel dynamite cartel network. Notgeld issues tied to industrial firms of this type were typically intended for canteen or wage-payment use within a closed factory economy, circulating among workers who had little choice but to accept them. WASAG operated multiple production sites, and Berlin-issued pieces like this one are catalogued distinctly from those attributed to other plant locations.
