| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field displays the large numeral '50' in bold raised characters within an inner dotted border. The circular legend 'GEWERKSCHAFT SCHALLMAUER' curves around the upper periphery, while the mine location name 'BACHEM' appears in the lower field, all separated by small five-pointed stars. The entire design is set within an octagonal flan with a uniformly pebbled or granulated background texture, characteristic of German Notgeld emergency coinage of the World War I era. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Gewerkschaft Schallmauer was a coal mining operation in the Bachem district, and like hundreds of German industrial firms in 1918, it resorted to privately issued notgeld coinage when the Imperial monetary system could no longer supply adequate small change — wartime metal requisitions had gutted the circulation of official low-denomination coins. Iron was the material of necessity, not choice; copper and nickel had long since been redirected to the war effort.
