Obverse description Olive-green notgeld printed in letterpress on plain paper, with a wide decorative border of stylised Art Nouveau foliate and geometric motifs — diamond lozenges, tulip-like blossoms and chevron bands — framing a plain central field. The issuer name 'Stöckheim' appears in bold gothic lettering at the top, beneath a row of decorative dots, with the denomination '50 Pfg.' in large type at centre and the validity clause 'Gültigkeit bis zum 30. März 1922' below. A manuscript signature in ink and a hand-stamped serial number occupy the lower portion of the central field.

Stöckheim (Northeim) was one of hundreds of small German municipalities that issued Notgeld during the hyperinflationary crisis of the early 1920s, when the central money supply collapsed so completely that villages and towns were forced to print their own emergency scrip simply to make change. These local issues filled a genuine transactional vacuum — coins had essentially vanished from circulation, hoarded or melted.

Municipal Notgeld from villages of this size was typically printed in small runs and often redeemed quickly, making survivors uneven in availability. Stöckheim (Northeim) is a minor locality in Lower Saxony, not to be confused with the larger Stöckheim near Brunswick.
