Nöschenrode was an independent municipality at the time of issue — it was only incorporated into the neighboring town of Wernigerode in 1922, which gives this note an unusually short institutional lifespan. The issuing Gemeindekasse (municipal treasury) would have ceased to exist as a separate authority within roughly a year of printing.
The designer credit to Marie Alde is a rare instance of a named female designer on German Kleingeldscheine — most notgeld of this period went unattributed or credited commercial print firms without individual names.
