备注

Friedrichroda was a well-established spa town in the Thuringian Forest, and its local notgeld issues from 1920 reflect the near-total collapse of small-denomination coinage circulation that followed Germany's wartime metal requisitions. Municipalities across Thuringia were effectively forced into self-issued scrip — not as a financial instrument of their own design, but because the Reichsbank simply could not supply enough subsidiary coinage to keep local commerce moving.

The watermark is worth noting: most municipal notgeld of this period was printed on plain stock, and its presence here suggests the city sourced from a commercial printer with access to security paper rather than relying on the cheaper alternatives many smaller towns used.
