| Obverse description | The obverse is executed in a bold two-colour letterpress style in yellow and dark blue-black. The title inscription 'Stadt Gollnow' appears across the top in large Gothic blackletter script. Two octagonal denomination cartouches bearing '50 Pf' in yellow and black flank a central silhouette vignette of a ploughman guiding a horse-drawn plough against a radiant sunburst underprint rendered in yellow. Sprigs of foliage frame the cartouches on either side, while the date '3. Aug. 1921', a serial number, the redemption clause, the issuing authority 'Der Magistrat', and two manuscript signatures appear along the lower register, with the printer's imprint 'Ratsdruckerei R. Dulce, Künstlerdruck, Glauchau (Sachsen)' at the foot. |

Gollnow's 1921 Notgeld issue is one of thousands produced during the hyperinflationary spiral that followed Germany's postwar economic collapse, but the commission of a named female designer — Elisabeth Forster — is worth noting. Most municipal Notgeld was farmed out to commercial printers who supplied stock art or generic regional imagery; a credited designer suggests the city took some deliberate interest in the aesthetics of its scrip.
The printer, Ratsdruckerei R. Dulce, was based in Glauchau, Saxony — nearly 600 kilometres from Gollnow in Pomerania. Municipal printing contracts routinely crossed provincial lines during this period, as local presses lacked capacity for the volume the Notgeld boom demanded.
