| 表面の説明 | Printed in black and red on a grey-tan ground within a thin ruled border, the obverse is a cheque-style payment order issued by the Städtische Sparkasse Geestemünde, dated 1 October 1920, with an account reference 'Konto Nr. 112' at upper left and a manuscript authorisation by 'Fischversand Saturn / Joh. Müller' at right. A circular denomination vignette in bold red numerals reading '50 PFENNIG' anchors the upper left, while the lower half carries a lateral vignette of the steam trawler Saturn P.G. 164 underway beneath a large tricolour pennant inscribed 'ORA ET LABORA'. A circular planet Saturn device in red and black appears at lower right, and the printer's imprint 'FRANZ SCHERRER HANNOVER' is set at the foot of the note. |

Geestemünde was a port city on the Weser estuary that merged with neighboring Lehe and Bremerhaven in 1924 to form a single municipality — meaning the Städtische Sparkasse that issued this note ceased to exist as an independent institution within four years of printing it. The 1920 date places this squarely in Germany's post-WWI small-change crisis, when coin metal was hoarded and municipal savings banks across the country were authorized to issue their own Notgeld to keep local commerce moving.
Franz Scherrer of Hannover was a mid-tier regional printer responsible for a significant volume of Niedersachsen Notgeld output during this period. Unremarkable as a printer, but consistent.
