正面描述 Dark green letterpress note with an elaborate foliate and scrollwork border framing the central text. At the top, the municipal arms of Striegau appear within a vignette surmounted by the circular legend STÄDT. SPARKASSE IN STRIEGAU SCHL. The denomination value '50' is repeated in the upper corners within small panels, while the central field carries the note designation SPARKASSENSCHEIN above the large bold legend FÜNFZIG PFENNIG. Below, the issue date STRIEGAU 19 JUNI 1920 is printed, followed by the manuscript signatures of the administrative board (Der Verwaltungsrat), and a serial number in the lower margin.

备注

Striegau's municipal savings bank issued this note as part of the widespread Kleingeldersatz emergency — small-denomination Notgeld produced by hundreds of German towns and cities to address the acute coin shortage that followed the First World War. The Reichsbank had essentially ceased supplying pfennig coinage in usable quantities, forcing local institutions to fill the gap themselves.

Striegau, a mid-sized Silesian town known primarily for its granite quarrying, had no professional printing infrastructure on the scale of Leipzig or Berlin. Notes issued from such provincial printers often show inconsistent ink saturation and minor registration drift — worth examining on any example.
