Descrizione del dritto	The obverse is printed in black and ochre-gold Fraktur (blackletter) script on cream-coloured paper. The heading 'Notgeldschein' appears in large ornate calligraphic lettering across the top, followed by the place name 'Freienohls' flanked by the phrases 'der Freiheit' and 'im Sauerland'. At centre, a circular municipal seal in gold bearing a stylised 'F' divides the redemption text, which states that the Gemeindekasse Freienohl will pay the bearer the face value within one month of recall; two manuscript signatures appear at the bottom alongside the serial number.

Descrizione del rovescio	The reverse is divided into two vertical panels: a narrow left panel in cream with ochre-gold and black Fraktur lettering gives the denomination and issuing authority, while the larger right panel carries a finely executed pen-and-ink vignette of a rural Sauerland landscape with a half-timbered farmhouse nestled among trees on a country lane.
