备注

Eckernförde is a small Baltic coastal town in Schleswig-Holstein, and like hundreds of German municipalities in 1921, it issued its own emergency currency — Notgeld — to address the chronic small-denomination coin shortage that had plagued daily commerce since the war. The Hartung & Co. printing firm in Hamburg handled a substantial volume of municipal Notgeld contracts during this period, producing runs for numerous Schleswig-Holstein communities.

The "Eckernborg" name on the note is the Low German form of the town's name, a regional affectation common in Schleswig-Holstein Notgeld issues that leaned into local identity as a design choice rather than a cartographic slip.
