Obverse description Central device features the Imperial German eagle displayed, with wings spread and head turned to the right, crowned with the Imperial crown and bearing a small shield on its breast. The eagle is rendered in high relief and flanked on both sides by oak branches bearing acorns and leaves, tied at the base with a ribbon, forming a wreath that frames the entire design. The mint mark 'A' appears at the base of the design, denoting the Berlin Mint. The field is plain and unlettered, with all inscriptional matter reserved for the reverse. The overall style is consistent with the Wilhelmine Imperial coinage aesthetic of the period.
