| Obverse description | The obverse displays the German Imperial eagle with wings spread, facing left, surmounted by a crown bearing a cross finial. The eagle bears on its breast a large quartered heraldic shield, elaborately detailed with oak-leaf mantling and ornamental scrollwork at the base. The field is plain, enclosed by an inner beaded border. The mint mark letters appear at the bottom of the field, flanking the lower decorative scroll beneath the shield. |
