Waldmohr is a small town in the Palatinate, and this note was issued by its consumer cooperative — a Konsumverein of the type that proliferated across Germany during the 1914–1923 period when municipal and commercial entities alike scrambled to plug the chronic shortage of small-denomination coinage. Cooperative societies, being member-owned and locally trusted, were among the more credible issuers of such Notgeld, and their scrip generally circulated within a defined commercial radius: members' purchases, wages in kind, store credit.
The "e.G.m.b.H." designation — eingetragene Genossenschaft mit beschränkter Haftpflicht — marks this as a formally registered cooperative with limited liability, a legal structure common to German consumer co-ops of the period.
