| Description de l’avers | The obverse is printed in polychrome offset on a cream ground within a red single-line border. At centre, the quartered municipal coat of arms of Treffurt an der Werra — upper-left black field with two crossed swords in gold, upper-right red field with a white cartwheel, lower field in blue with a rampant white lion — is set on a decorative cartouche with scrolled volutes. The denomination numeral '50' in bold red Fraktur type appears to either side of the arms, with 'Pfg' beneath in green gothic lettering, and the heading 'Notgeld' arches across the top in ornate green gothic script. Issuer text and validity clause are printed in black Fraktur below the arms, with a manuscript signature to the lower right. |

The scene depicts the medieval castle ruins of Treffurt, with a massive round tower and adjoining stone walls rising from a grassy hillside, a half-timbered structure at left, and leafy trees framing the composition against a pale blue sky with birds in flight. The denomination numeral '50' appears in the upper corners within plain white cartouches, and the inscription 'Treffurt a. d. Werra' is printed in green gothic script along the lower margin, with the printer's imprint below. |
