Comments

The Bonner Stadtsoldaten-Corps was a civic militia association — essentially a ceremonial veterans' fraternity — and its decision to issue notgeld in 1922 places this squarely in the hyperinflationary emergency that was gutting Weimar-era purchasing power before the situation fully collapsed in 1923. Local clubs, guilds, and associations issued their own small-denomination scrip partly out of genuine necessity and partly as a collector opportunity; by 1922 the line between the two had blurred considerably.

Rhenania-Druckerei was a Bonn-based printer responsible for a number of regional notgeld issues, and the designer credit to C. Nonn is relatively unusual — most notgeld of this type went unattributed.
