Glatz — known today as Kłodzko — was still firmly within the German province of Silesia in 1921, so the "Poland" designation in the printer's address reflects post-war cartography rather than the political reality at the time of issue. The city wouldn't pass to Poland until 1945. This note is Notgeld, emergency small-change scrip issued by the municipal savings bank to fill the void left by the hoarding and disappearance of metal coinage during the inflationary spiral that preceded the catastrophic hyperinflation of 1922–23.
L. Schirmer was a local print house — not a specialist currency printer — which was entirely typical of Notgeld production across Weimar-era Germany.
