| Obverse description | Within a beaded inner circle, the denomination '50' appears prominently alongside an Iron Cross emblem in the lower field. The circular legend around the periphery reads 'STADT ST.GEORGEN Schwarzwald' with the date '1918', all rendered in bold Latin lettering. The design is austere and functional, consistent with the Notgeld emergency coinage aesthetic of World War I-era Germany. |

| Additional information |
Sankt Georgen im Schwarzwald issued this iron notgeld piece in 1918, when the Imperial German war economy had consumed virtually all available copper, nickel, and zinc for military production. Municipal authorities across Baden were left to commission their own emergency coinage in whatever base metals remained accessible — iron being the least desirable and, by that point, the most available. These local issues were rarely struck with the precision of state coinage, and iron's susceptibility to corrosion means survivors in any respectable condition are genuinely scarce.
