| Obverse description | The obverse is framed by a decorative border of pine branches and cones rendered in dark green and brown, evoking the Thuringian Forest. At left, the denomination "50 Pfg." appears twice in large red Fraktur script, flanked by the text "Gutschein der Stadt Suhl" in Gothic lettering. The central vignette, set within a circular pine-wreath cartouche tied with a red ribbon bow, presents a red-printed view of the Suhl town gate with crossed hammers above — symbols of the local armsmiths' trade — and a cockerel in the gateway arch. To the right, a validity clause in blackletter script states that the voucher expires if not redeemed within one month of the magistrate's call at the Kämmereikasse, followed by the manuscript signature "Hertwig" for Der Magistrat. |
