| Aanvullende informatie |
Schlitz notgeld of this type was issued by the castle estates administration — not a municipality or bank — making it one of the more unusual issuing authorities from the post-WWI emergency currency period. The Schlitz family, one of the oldest noble houses in Hesse, retained sufficient economic infrastructure after the war to operate their own scrip, presumably to pay estate workers when small-denomination Reichsmark coinage had effectively vanished from circulation by 1918–1921.
